PROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL SERVICE, INC. PROVIDES DATA SECURITY EVENT NOTICE

KINGSPORT, Tenn., February 1, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Professional Personnel Service, Inc., and its affiliates d/b/a Luttrell Staffing Group (“Luttrell Staff“) provides notice of an event that may affect the security of information relating to current and former employees and associates. Although there is no evidence of attempted or actual misuse of these informations, Luttrell Staff provides those potentially affected by this event with information about the event, its response, and the steps those individuals can take to further protect their information against identity theft and fraud, if they deem it necessary.

What happened? At June 14, 2021, Luttrell Staff became aware that some files in his computer system were encrypted with malware by an unknown actor. Luttrell Staff quickly took action to secure the impacted systems and its network and launched an investigation to determine the nature and extent of the event. The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor had gained access to certain Luttrell Staff systems between June 10, 2021 and June 232021. As a result, the unauthorized actor may have had access to certain files on these systems and certain information about current and former employees and associates may have been accessed or acquired by the unauthorized actor.

What information was involved? Although the investigation was able to determine that some Luttrell Staff systems were consulted, he was unable to confirm what specific information was actually consulted. Therefore, Luttrell Staff began a full review of the records affected by over-cautiousness to determine what information was present at the time of the incident. Luttrell Staff warns individuals now because the or to December 27, 2021, this review has determined that certain information related to current events and may have been impacted. This information includes names, dates of birth, social security number, government-issued identification number, financial account information, credit or debit card information, biometric information and/or medical information and Health Insurance.

What Luttrell Staff do. Confidentiality and information security are part of Luttrell Staff highest priorities and we take this incident very seriously. Luttrell Staff is reviewing its security policies and procedures, as well as working with cybersecurity specialists, to reduce the risk of this happening in the future and has implemented additional security measures and tools to protect more information in its systems. Luttrell Staff also strives to provide additional training to employees regarding privacy and data security. Luttrell Staff also offers free credit monitoring services to affected individuals and has reported this incident to federal law enforcement.

What people can do. Luttrell Staff encourages those potentially affected to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud by reviewing their account statements and monitoring their free credit reports for suspicious activity. Additionally, under US law, a consumer is entitled to one free credit report per year from each of the three major credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. In order for a consumer to order his free credit report, he can visit www.annualcreditreport.com or call toll free 1-877-322-8228. Consumers can also contact the three major credit bureaus listed below directly to request a free copy of your credit report.

Consumers have the right to place an initial or extended “fraud alert” on a credit report at no charge. An initial fraud alert is a one-year alert that is placed on a consumer’s credit file. Upon seeing a fraud alert appear on a consumer’s credit report, a business is required to take steps to verify the consumer’s identity before extending new credit. If a consumer is a victim of identity theft, the consumer is entitled to an extended fraud alert, which is a seven-year fraud alert. If a consumer wishes to place a fraud alert, they can contact any of the three major credit bureaus listed below.

As an alternative to a fraud alert, consumers have the right to place a “credit freeze” on a credit report, which will prevent a credit bureau from releasing information in the credit report without the express permission of the consumer. The credit freeze is designed to prevent credit, loans and services from being approved in the consumer’s name without their consent. However, consumers should be aware that using a credit freeze to control who has access to personal and financial information in their credit report may delay, interfere with, or prohibit the timely approval of any application or subsequent application they make regarding a new loan, credit, mortgage or any other account involving the granting of credit. Under federal law, consumers cannot be charged for placing or lifting a credit freeze on their credit report. To request a safety freeze, consumers will need to provide the following information:

  1. Full name (including middle initial as well as Jr., Sr., II, III, etc.);
  2. Social Security number;
  3. Date of Birth;
  4. Addresses for the previous two to five years;
  5. Current proof of address, such as a current utility bill or phone bill;
  6. A legible photocopy of a government-issued identification card (driver’s license or state ID, military ID, etc.); and
  7. A copy of the police report, investigation report, or complaint to law enforcement regarding identity theft if you are a victim of identity theft.
