Truliant Federal Credit Union will move forward to meet its sustainability goals with the installation of solar panels on the roof of its new operations center at the Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The 352 kW on-site solar installation will consist of 880 solar panels covering 51,000 square feet of rooftop space. The array will be installed by Charlotte-based Renu Energy Solutions. Truliant is the direct purchaser of the project and plans to activate the network this fall.
“Equipping our operations center with solar panels is a significant way to advance Truliant’s sustainability efforts,” said Todd Hall, President and CEO of Truliant. “As we add facilities to support a growing workforce, we continue to examine ways to limit our carbon footprint and lead our communities through action.”
Truliant is converting the former three-story Macy’s from a retail store to an operations center through an adaptive reuse project. The property is opposite the Truliant Head Office and will open in late 2022.
Over the past few years, Truliant has launched several projects to reduce its impact on the environment, including multi-year paper reduction initiatives, LED lighting retrofits, reuse of asphalt from repaving and bipolar ionization to improve indoor air quality.
